As part of its mission to “Enable Creatives to Create,”  Catalyst Games delivers hands-on game development workshops for young creators through local council libraries, community centres, and schools. These programs introduce students to coding, art, and design while inspiring the next generation of developers to explore careers in the games industry. To date, Catalyst Games has taught and mentored hundreds of aspiring developers across South Australia, building creative confidence and practical skills that extend beyond the classroom. The studio was also honoured with the “Most Impactful Studio” award at the South Australian Game Industry Awards, and nationally at the Australian Game Developer Awards recognising its outstanding community contribution, mentorship of emerging talent, and dedication to initiatives that go above and beyond traditional business practice.

Bob’s Adventures - Unity Workshop

A two-day, bootcamp-style workshop where 10–15 students dive into Unity and Blender under the guidance of two WWCC- and police-checked facilitators. Through three hands-on levels participants master the basics of programming, 3D modelling, level design and UI/UX.

Students work in focused 2-hour segments, create and share custom levels and assets, and walk away with a playable .exe on a branded USB plus a certificate of completion that can be referenced as extra-curricular work towards entry to certificate courses in professional Game Development or Technology degrees and further education.

Paper Prototyping Crash Course

An offline, highly accessible workshop led by two facilitators where no computers are required. Students explore core game mechanics, reward loops and iterative feedback through fast-paced ideation and play-testing exercises.

By the end, each participant will have designed and refined a paper prototype of a board or video-game concept—ready to build on with friends and family at home.
